“Be wired for discomfort, seek it out. That's where growth happens.”
Backstory
I grew up in Nashik, in Maharashtra, India, as part of a fairly conservative family. After finishing high school in Mumbai, I moved to the US at the age of 18 to attend the University of Kansas. Until then, my perception of the US had been shaped by TV shows like The OC. So, it’s no surprise that one of my first challenges was getting over the culture shock—the USA I had seen on TV was different from the one that welcomed me in the Midwest.
After graduating, I moved to the Bay Area for work and began testing different roles under go-to-market, doing everything from account management to customer success to business development and sales. After a few years of experimentation, I realized that while the barrier to entry in sales is low, you have to be great at it to really make a difference. I realized if I really wanted to accelerate my career and find my American dream, sales could be the right path for me. This led me to work with companies like Quantcast, Drawbridge (now acquired by LinkedIn), and Lattice.
In my first role in sales, I went on to become a people leader for the first time and eventually realized I loved building revenue engines, people management, and operating in scale-up phases.
As a revenue leader, I’ve been part of a team that, in less than four years, scaled our company’s revenue from single-digit millions to $100 million+ across multiple product lines. Over the past few years, I’ve also helped teams build a collaborative culture with a voluntary attrition rate of 1%, which isn’t typical for most sales organizations.
As an Executive-in-Residence at Peak XV, my scope of work includes working with cross-border founders on their go-to-market strategies and helping them scale their companies in the US.
On the lookout for
Working on daunting problems with great people and navigating large, competitive markets is something that energizes me.
I love working with founders who have big ideas and are ready to do the hard work to solve tough problems. I gravitate towards people who are smart, kind, and ambitious. I love working with people who have a good sense of their “why”:
1) Why they are building their company
2) Why are they building it now
3) Why they will specifically win.
I look forward to connecting with founders who have founder-market fit and are looking to scale up.
